Lending Landscape in Australia post GFC

Compared to the pre GFC era, there is very little competition for lending in Australia. After mergers and acquisitions by the Big 4 their market shares stands around 90%

  1. CBA (BankWest)
  2. ANZ
  3. NAB
  4. Westpac (St George & RAMS)

Thereafter, the alternatives stand as

  • Bendigo / Adelaide Bank
  • BEAT
  • heritage building society
  • ING
  • Homeloans Ltd
  • AMP
  • IMB
As the big banks get bigger, perhaps the differentiater for clients is service. Service by brokers and service by the lender pre and post settlement.

"differentiater for clients is service" sounds reasonable but WHICH BANK has better service? Call centre service levels are a study in mediocrity and failure.
